Leftist groups in New York's Hudson Valley are collectively mourning the failure of their attempt to infiltrate this year's West Point Cadet graduation ceremony.
The Leader of the Socialist "Orange County Democratic Alliance," Michael Sussman, tried to take his annual demonstration to the actual ceremony to protest the War on Terror, but a judge said he and his groups (which include the local Leftist "Raging Grannies," "Code Pink" and "Women in Black") had every right to demonstrate outside the US Military Academy gates as the routinely do, but they cannot shove their signs in the faces of proud parents watching their sons and daughters graduate.
Although Sussman and friends will continue to throw tantrums about this ruling, their attempt had little to do with protesting war as it would have to feed his huge ego and that of every protesting-type there so they could tell their friends they protested war on real, live military ground. If it was more about the war, then they would have been happy with their annual picketing on the nearby streets in the Village of Highland Falls. People would see them and they would get their story in the local fishwrapper and they could all go home to listen to Grateful Dead music.
These people in the renegade "Democratic Alliance" are the farthest Left of the local Orange County, New York Democratic party and have been anti-military, anti-America and anti-capitalism since they formed a few years before the War on Terror -- shortly after a failed bid by Sussman to take over the county committee leadership. Since then, this "Alliance" has merely been a vehicle to keep Sussman's name in the local news to ready for his next attempted ascension.
In truth, I strongly support other people's right to demonstrate or voice opposition to myself or the government, but in a responsible and sincere manner. They are out there every year to protest West Point outside the grounds, but interrupting a graduation ceremony that our best and brightest American youth worked hard for with chants of "Hell No, We Won't Go" or "No Justice, No Peace" is more childish, annoying and irresponsible than honest.
